STANDARDS — BBCF 8/16/2012
DAY 8 OF 100 DAYS OF DOUBLE UNDERS …..
So, we’re pretty intense when we train and i LOVE to watch all of you get down and dirty throwin’ down our wods..! It’s an awesome sight to see and it is something i look forward to watching on a regular basis ! Seeing all the times throughout the day and seeing how awesome our camaraderie is.
As we continue to grow and see more and more athletes come into the box and throwdown, we need to remember a few things. I want you all to understand that the times we put up on the board are only as good as the movements performed in the wod. Holding ourselves to the HIGHEST STANDARDS is what we need to be doing, not only counting your rep but making sure that the rep counts.. You see, i know that we all get tired when we WOD and our form may break at some point. We may get tired and not hit that squat low enough on that wall ball, or we may not hit both feet on the toes to bar. We may not jump with both feet on our bar facing, or lateral burpees. We may not Lock out on our push press or we may never come back up and extend our hips after a push jerk.. These are all what you would call, NO REPS.. Although we all want to finish in a timely manner, when was the last time you NO REP’d Yourself??? really, think about it… not everyone hits every rep perfect on every wod, so once in awhile you’re gonna have to do what you know is right…. Last week i was throwing down, i did a bar facing burpee and jumped off one foot rather than both, i landed on one foot then the other came down after. I walked to the next movement, but i knew i had a bad rep.. I came back to the bar and did the rep again.. Maybe that cost me the time of the day, maybe it didnt but i went to sleep that night knowing all my reps were LEGIT.. by all means im not saying that anyone is knowingly or purposely doing this, im saying that we all need to remember the standards of the movement and hold ourselves accountable. Why count a rep if its a bad rep.. If i dont open up on a box jump, why count it…. I’m just hurting my own progress and if i ever go to a competition, i’ll be the one sorry and i’ll be the one being mad at the judge for no repping me for whatever reason, but really it’s my own, right…? Listen, ya’ll are great athletes, each and every one of you. Regardless if you are a competitor or not, the standard is the standard. Dont waste your time counting reps that dont count.. I may not see every one, i may see all of them. But what you decide to do at that moment shows your character…. So next time the rep is suspect, think about it, do the right thing… No Rep yourself and repeat it……. It will only help you in the future… aight, bet… Keep it movin…..

Great WOD!! I completed 12 rounds and my squat x20= 65lbs!! My goal is to do 10 double unders in a row.
I had duty last night so I’m working on and hour and a half sleep. I decide to do it’s on base so I could get home and hit the rack after work.
